Saint-Gobain: further optimization of its business portfolio

Strategy for optimizing the business portfolio

In order to improve its growth profile and profitability, the Saint-Gobain Group has decided tooptimize its business portfolio. To this end, it has adopted a divestment strategy. The building materials specialist has already completed several sales transactions.

Indeed, the French company has sold the French company Aurys. Aurys is mainly active in the shaping and processing of flat glass. The buyer is a former manager of Saint-Gobain. Aurys has a workforce of around 145 employees at its site in Carentan-les-Marais (Manche).

In its 2020 financial year, the company recorded sales of around €20 million. Saint-Gobain's other disposal concerns the German company GVG Deggendorf.

Its Bavarian-based site has a workforce of nearly 160 employees. Last year, the company's turnover also amounted to 20 million euros.

Impact of the sales transactions on the company's accounts

The various sales operations carried out by the Saint-Gobain group have been reflected in its financial accounts for several quarters. The last good news known by the company dates from the end of July 2021. At that time, it announced that it had raised its targets for this year.

For the entire fiscal year 2021, the German firm expects a very strong growth in its operating income. It should again reach an all-time high. For the second half of this year, the group expects an operating result close to that recorded in the same period last year.

In H2-2020, the building materials specialist recorded a record operating result. As a reminder, the group's business grew remarkably in H1-2021. The results recorded for that half-year had come out very strong.
