General presentation of Ralph Lauren

Buy Ralph Lauren shares

The Ralph Lauren company was founded in 1967 by the entrepreneur of the same name, who initially opened a shop selling ties and his own brand of polo shirts. But soon the company expanded its range of clothing to include shirts and other types of men's clothing.

In 1970, the Ralph Lauren group also began to focus on women's fashion, launching its first line of women's clothing and creating its now world-famous logo depicting a polo player on horseback.

However, the company's great success came in 1972 with the production of its famous polo shirt in 24 different colours.

In the early 1980s, the Ralph Lauren group began to produce accessories for the home in order to diversify its offer and then in the 1990s created the range of sports polo shirts that would make its success. In 1997, Ralph Lauren was listed on the NYSE.

Today, the group operates no less than 35 stores in the United States and is present in over 23 different cities. In the rest of the world, the group operates no less than 300 stores in 80 different countries. It produces and markets various brands such as Purple Label, Ralph Lauren Collection, Polo Black Label, RRL and RLX, Polo Golf, Polo Jeans Co, Rugby, Chaps and Denim & Supply.
